F. Hill Allen
Hill Allen is a partner in the firm and handles a broad range of civil and criminal litigation. His practice areas and recent cases include: white collar criminal defense; healthcare fraud; wrongful death and catastrophic personal injury; antitrust litigation; aviation and other products liability matters; campaign finance and election law matters; class actions and other commercial litigation; environmental crimes; False Claims Act, and qui tam, or whistleblower, litigation; intellectual property litigation; mortgage fraud; securities fraud; trade secret and non-compete litigation; and appeals.
Mr. Allen's clients have included a former Olympic Gold medalist; a former North Carolina Lieutenant Governor and Speaker of the North Carolina House of Representatives; a former North Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture; multinational manufacturing, construction and pharmaceutical concerns; major airlines; companies and individuals charged or under investigation in federal and state court; and families of those killed in aviation, automobile and workplace accidents. Among other matters, Mr. Allen recently defended well-known track-and-field athlete Marion Jones in a multi-jurisdiction federal prosecution that drew international attention.
His peers have consistently voted Mr. Allen one of Business North Carolina's "Legal Elite." He has earned the top rating (AV®) in Martindale Hubbell and has been recognized in North Carolina Super Lawyers. Past professional activities include serving on the faculty of NITA's Southeast Regional Trial Skills program.
Mr. Allen is a North Carolina native. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He earned his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law. Mr. Allen practiced with Hunton & Williams before joining Tharrington Smith in 1997. He is admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in North Carolina and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
