Kathleen P. Tanner Kennedy
Kathleen P. Tanner Kennedy, a Raleigh native, earned her undergraduate degree in 1997 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. In 2001 she received her law degree, with honors, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While in law school, Mrs. Tanner Kennedy was a member of the North Carolina Law Review. After graduating, she served as a law clerk to the Honorable Ed Carnes of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
Prior to joining Tharrington Smith in 2005, Mrs. Tanner Kennedy spent two years as an associate at Hogan & Hartson, L.L.P. in Washington, D.C., where she was a member of the firm's litigation and legislative practice groups.
Mrs. Tanner Kennedy is licensed to practice in North Carolina and the District of Columbia. She practices education law, and is a member of the education section of the North Carolina Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the North Carolina Council of School Attorneys and the National Council of School Attorneys. She currently serves as President of the Wake County Phi Beta Kappa Association. Ms. Tanner Kennedy is currently serving a three-year term on the Education Council of the NC Bar Association.
